Queen Elizabeth I letter signed to the Archbishop of York excusing him from attending Parliament
A 1510 vellum warrant signed by King Henry VIII and a 1601 letter signed by his daughter Queen Elizabeth I excusing the Archbishop of York from attending her final Parliament are among the highlights at RR Auction's latest sale.
Closing March 26, other leading lots in the auction include:
- a May 15, 1664 land grant signed by Peter Stuyvesant issued at Fort Amsterdam four months before he surrendered New Netherland to the English
- a 1681 indenture signed by William Penn conveying 5,000 acres to one of Pennsylvania’s original 'First Purchasers'
- a dual-signed 1801 vellum appointment document bearing the signatures of Thomas Jefferson and James Madison appointing William C. C. Claiborne governor of the Mississippi Territory
